New African Film Festival



With its long history of welcoming immigrants, Maryland is considered a haven for African immigrants and refugees. Drawn to the state by family ties, a vibrant immigrant community, job and educational opportunities, and a growing number of social service programs, the number and percentage of African immigrants and refugees continue to grow. Secondary migration, also known as state-to-state migration, has added to the numbers. This fueled the need for an organization that caters to the needs of this rather culturally diverse group. African Cultural Resource Center was born out of the recognization of this need.

About 50 leaders of some African immigrant communities within the DC metro area, gathered at the Crowne Plaza hotel, Silver Spring on Friday Dec. 9 and Saturday Dec. 10, 2011 for two days’ capacity building training jointly organized by the Office of Minority Health Resource Center and the African Cultural Resource Center (ACRC)....

ABOUT US
The organization was founded in 2009 under the auspices of Volta Asssociation and it's executive membership with help from Montgomery County Excecutive, Ike Leggert.
